TRACK TEAM ENDS RECORD-BREAKING SEASON

The 2004 track season was distinguished by shattered records, hard-won victories and steady improvement. At the Independent School Track Championships on May 18th and 19th, the School’s girls track team took a solid 6th place overall, competing against much larger schools. Of particular note were the EHS girls’ relay teams, which won third place in the 4 x 400. Ciara Ortiz ’04, who led the girls’ long distance runners all season, took third place in the mile. Shavon Mobley ’04 received fourth place in the girls’ shotput, beating more than 25 other girls although she had never competed before. The boys faced tough competition but also did remarkably well, breaking personal records in the 100, 400 and 800 meter races.
