Dear Prospective Families,

Welcome to EHS! If you wish for your child to lead a happy life of actions that are guided by self-discipline and compassion, you may have just found the best possible school for your child and family! We accept students from all backgrounds and with a wide range of skills and abilities. We give preference to families with low income and the highest values, and we are committed to making an East Harlem School education affordable for all families. We do not base admissions on test scores. Rather, we seek a student with a strong will to learn, a deep respect for self and others, and the deep desire to embrace new challenges. We work hard to get to know our prospective students and families throughout the admissions process, and we encourage you to get to know us. We really are only for families who share the values we express throughout the website. Ask us lots of questions. If you feel we answer them right, we probably are the school for you.

We encourage you to explore our website. You will find that we are a school that has no bullying, no tolerance for disruption of learning, and that we are also a school where, because students are safe to learn, they grow so much here and have so much fun while doing so! You will also find, because we are an independent school and not public or charter, we can give your child a quality and breadth of educational program usually reserved for the the fortunate few: daily sports, healthy food, meditation, outdoor education, drama, fine arts, and a dynamic academic program that wins our graduates spots in the best high schools of our city and nation. If you like what you read, please see the schedule of Open Houses and call to reserve a spot! You will find we are even better in person! When you visit we will greet you warmly and help you feel at ease. Really. To begin your application, please click here.

Admissions at The East Harlem School is rolling and we begin to receive applications in September for the following school year. We are a small school and spaces go quickly. We encourage you to apply early!

Thank you for your interest in The East Harlem School, and we look forward to welcoming you to our beautiful home on 103rd Street for a visit soon!

I am so grateful to be able to have my daughter in your school... This pandemic was handled gracefully by your staff and the facility is one of the things that brings pride to us living in El Barrio.
